About Blue Pepper Tea Infusions
What is a tea infusion, and how is it different from regular tea?
A tea infusion is a drink made by steeping herbs, spices, flowers, fruits or other botanicals in water. Traditional black, green, white and oolong teas come from the Camellia sinensis plant and naturally contain caffeine. Blue Pepper Tea Infusions are made without tea leaves, so our current collection is naturally caffeine-free. You may also hear this style of drink called herbal tea or a tisane.
What makes Blue Pepper Tea Infusions unique?
Blue Pepper is a women-founded Canadian tea brand creating premium, Indian-inspired loose herbal tea infusions. Our flavour-first blends bring together herbs, spices and botanicals for a distinctive cup that can be enjoyed hot, iced, cold brewed, as chai or in recipes. Explore the Blue Pepper Tea Infusions collection.
Is Blue Pepper a Canadian women-founded tea brand?
Yes. Blue Pepper is a Canadian, women-founded brand inspired by Indian flavours, family traditions and the many ways tea brings people together. Read more on our Our Story page.
Which Blue Pepper tea infusion should I choose?
Start with the flavour experience you enjoy most. Explore Bold & Spiced for assertive warming spice, Calm & Unwind for softer evening-style flavours, Fresh & Floral for bright aromatic blends, or Light & Comforting for a gentler cup. Ingredient lists and tasting notes on each product page can help you compare blends.
Why did my order arrive in different packaging?
Blue Pepper is transitioning to refreshed packaging, so your order may arrive in either our previous or current pouch design. Some orders may include both. Only the outer design has changed. The blend, ingredients and quality inside remain the same. Please check the best-before date and product label on your pouch as usual.
Do you offer sample packs?
We do not currently sell sample packs online, and there is no confirmed launch date. Samples may occasionally be available at select markets, tastings, retail demonstrations and events, subject to availability. Visit our Meet Blue Pepper events page to see where you can meet us and experience our infusions.

- Iced tea: Brew slightly stronger for 5 to 7 minutes, cool and pour over ice.

How much loose herbal tea infusion should I use per cup?
Start with about 1 teaspoon, approximately 2 g, per 250 mL cup. Because loose blends vary in ingredient size and density, a level spoon may weigh slightly more or less. Adjust the amount or steeping time to suit your preferred strength.
How many cups can I make from a 60 g pouch?
A 60 g pouch makes approximately 20 to 30 cups when using about 1 teaspoon, or approximately 2 g, per cup. The actual yield may vary slightly depending on the blend, spoon size and your preferred strength.
Can I brew Blue Pepper with an infuser or fillable tea bag?
Yes. A roomy stainless-steel infuser is ideal because it allows herbs and spices to circulate. For fillable tea bags, choose food-grade, unbleached paper or a reusable natural-fibre bag with enough space for the ingredients to expand. Avoid non-food-grade materials, damaged bags, bags that are too small, and closures or adhesives that are not rated for hot-water brewing. Compare the options in our fillable tea bags versus tea infusers guide.
What brewing accessories do I need for loose tea infusions?
You only need a mug or teapot, hot water and a way to strain the ingredients. A roomy basket infuser, fine-mesh strainer or food-grade fillable tea bag makes cleanup easier. Browse our tea accessories for practical brewing options.
How do I clean and care for a tea infuser?
Empty the ingredients soon after brewing, rinse the infuser thoroughly and wash it with warm soapy water according to the manufacturer's directions. Use a soft brush for fine mesh, rinse away all soap and let the infuser dry completely before storing. Check whether your specific infuser is dishwasher-safe before placing it in a dishwasher.
Can I steep a Blue Pepper infusion more than once?
Yes. Many Blue Pepper blends can be steeped a second time. The second cup will usually be lighter, and the flavour balance may differ from the first infusion. Use fresh hot water, extend the steeping time slightly, and re-steep soon after the first brew rather than leaving wet ingredients at room temperature.
Can Blue Pepper infusions be made as chai, lattes, iced tea or cold brew?
Yes. The blends are designed for versatile preparation. Brew them hot, cool a stronger infusion for iced tea, steep them overnight in the refrigerator for cold brew, or gently simmer them with dairy or plant-based milk for chai and lattes. Visit our traditional tea recipe page for measurements and ideas.
How should I store my tea?
Keep the pouch tightly sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat, moisture and strong odours. Use a clean, dry spoon and avoid storing loose tea near a kettle or stove where steam can enter the pouch. Read our loose herbal tea storage guide.
What is the shelf life of your tea infusions?
Blue Pepper Tea Infusions generally have a shelf life of approximately 24 months when stored properly. Always follow the best-before date printed on your pouch, keep it sealed and check the aroma and appearance before brewing.
Ingredients, Caffeine & Suitability
Are your tea infusions caffeinated?
No. All current Blue Pepper Tea Infusions are naturally caffeine-free because they are made with herbs, spices and botanicals rather than caffeinated tea leaves. Check the ingredient list on the product page and pouch whenever you purchase.
What is the difference between caffeine-free and decaf tea?
Caffeine-free tea contains no caffeine naturally because it is made from ingredients that do not contain it. Decaf tea begins as caffeinated tea, such as black or green tea, and goes through a process that removes most of the caffeine. Decaf products may still contain a small amount. Learn more in our caffeine-free tea versus decaf tea guide.
Do you use artificial flavours or sweeteners?
No. Blue Pepper Tea Infusions contain no artificial flavours, no added sweeteners, and no preservatives or fillers. Any naturally sweet-tasting note comes from the herbs and spices already in the blend, such as cinnamon or fennel in selected flavours. Each infusion is sold unsweetened, so you can enjoy it as brewed or sweeten it to taste.
Are your teas organic?
Blue Pepper Tea Infusions are not certified organic. We focus on flavour, ingredient transparency and clear product labelling. Please review the ingredient list on each product page and pouch if organic certification is important to your purchase.
Are your products gluten-free and vegan?
Our infusions are made from herbs, spices and botanicals that are naturally gluten-free and vegan. However, Blue Pepper products are not certified gluten-free or certified vegan. If you have celiac disease, a severe allergy or require third-party certification, please review the ingredient label and contact us before purchasing.
Can I drink Blue Pepper tea infusions daily?
Many customers enjoy Blue Pepper as part of a regular tea routine, but suitability and serving frequency depend on the ingredients, your personal circumstances and the rest of your diet. Review the label, vary your beverages and speak with a qualified healthcare professional if you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication or managing a health condition.
Where does your ingredient information come from?
The ingredient list on each product page and pouch is the definitive source for what is in a Blue Pepper blend. Our educational content uses publicly available sources and culinary or traditional context. Blue Pepper has not conducted independent clinical studies, and general ingredient information should not be read as a medical claim about a finished infusion.
Are Blue Pepper tea infusions suitable for everyone?
Not necessarily. Individual allergies, sensitivities, medications and health circumstances vary. Review the complete ingredient list before brewing. If you are pregnant, nursing, have a medical condition, take medication or are unsure about a specific herb or spice, ask a qualified healthcare professional whether the blend is appropriate for you.
Can Blue Pepper tea infusions cure, treat or replace medical treatment?
No. Blue Pepper Tea Infusions are beverages, not medicines, and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease. They should not replace prescribed treatment, professional medical advice or a medically recommended supplement.
Recipes & Creative Uses
Can Blue Pepper Tea Infusions be used in recipes?
Yes. Blue Pepper Tea Infusions can be enjoyed far beyond a traditional cup. Depending on the blend, you can use them for hot tea, iced tea, chai, golden milk, cold brew, mocktails, smoothies, baked treats, desserts and savoury recipes.
Start with our recipe hub, then explore cooking with tea, baking with tea, tea smoothies and blended drinks, and tea desserts and frozen treats.
Do I need to brew the tea before using it in recipes?
It depends on the recipe. Brewing and straining the infusion first works well for drinks, syrups, soups, grains, sauces and batters where you want smooth, even flavour. Some recipes may use finely ground ingredients or a sachet that is removed before serving. Follow the method in the specific Blue Pepper recipe.
Can I cook with Blue Pepper Tea Infusions?
Yes. A brewed infusion can replace some of the water or stock in grains, soups, sauces, marinades and dressings. Start with a modest amount, taste as you go and pair the blend's flavour profile with the dish. Explore our cooking with tea recipe ideas.
Can I bake with Blue Pepper Tea Infusions?
Yes. Brew a concentrated infusion for cakes, cookies, glazes and frostings, or use finely ground ingredients only when the recipe specifically calls for them. Account for the added liquid so the texture stays balanced. See our baking with tea guide.
Can I use Blue Pepper Tea Infusions in smoothies?
Yes. Chill a brewed infusion before blending, use it as part of the smoothie liquid, or freeze it into cubes. Pair the blend with fruit, dairy or plant-based alternatives that complement its spice or floral notes. Try our tea smoothie and blended drink recipes.
Can I use Blue Pepper infusions in mocktails and cocktails?
Yes. Brew and chill the infusion, then use it as a flavourful base with citrus, fruit, herbs, sparkling water or spirits. A stronger brew helps the tea flavour remain noticeable after ice and mixers are added. Explore our tea mocktail and cocktail recipes and tea mocktail ideas guide.
